Restaurant Chez Margot

room_service

This famous traditional table was inaugurated in 1930 by Margot, or rather Marguerite Olascuaga. Originally from Hondarribia, she lived in Socoa, a small district of CIBOURE. She begins to cook for the local fishermen who carry their scoops. Some "summer visitors" accompany these fishermen and enjoy the meals.

Thus begins the good reputation of Margot. She opened her restaurant in the small bar room and success quickly began. It then expands by buying the room next to where boats were made. Finally, a large terrace completes the possibilities of welcoming the restaurant.

Almost 100 years later, you can still taste excellent traditional and local cuisine, based on fish and seafood with a breathtaking view of the bay of St Jean de Luz.
